Same Day Crowns in Lake Oswego, OR
Dental crowns are restorations that fit over a tooth or dental implant to restore the tooth’s shape, size, and strength. Typically, a dental crown takes two visits to complete. The first visit is when the tooth is prepared to receive the restoration and an impression is taken to send to the lab for the fabrication of your customized crown. The second visit is when your crown arrives from the lab, and you return to our office to have it placed.
At Paradigm Dental, with CEREC same-day crowns, you can avoid multiple dental appointments! Instead, we can create and place your new CEREC crown during the same appointment using a state-of-the-art milling unit that creates the restoration while you wait.
As soon as the tooth is prepared, we can scan it with the CEREC wand to capture an accurate 3D model of your tooth. Then, we design your customized restoration using specialized software before sending it to our on-site milling machine. This eliminates the wait for a laboratory to create your full-porcelain crown and allows us to design and place the new ceramic crown on the same day.
The Advantages Same-Day Crowns
Improved Comfort
There’s no need for messy impressions, a temporary crown, or a second appointment to have a same-day crown placed. When the crown is ready, we’ll install it immediately, and you’ll leave our office with a full smile!
More Convenient
Another benefit of same-day crowns is convenience. Because you don’t have to wait for your permanent crown, you won’t have to be without your tooth while you go through the process. A temporary crown might be uncomfortable or inconvenient for days or weeks. Instead, you can get back to your regular appearance right away.
The Procedure for Same-Day Crowns
Same-day crowns are a state-of-the-art technology allowing patients to complete their dental crowns in a single visit. Traditional crowns require at least two dentist visits, including the initial tooth preparation appointment and a final restoration one or two weeks later.
With same-day crowns, your tooth is prepared in the same way as it would be for a traditional crown. Next, the dentist uses specialized scanning technology to create a 3D digital image of the prepared tooth quickly and without having to use any messy impression material. Then, the CEREC machine will mill your porcelain crown from a block of high-quality ceramic material while you wait. Your crown is bonded to your tooth using the same type of cement used for traditional restorations.
Patients appreciate the convenience offered by same-day crowns as they don’t need to wear a temporary restoration while they wait for their permanent crown to be completed. This eliminates concerns and ensures the tooth won’t be shifting or moving between visits.
Same-day crowns are metal-free, making them ideal for patients with allergies to metals or patients with sensitivities to other restorative materials.
